bp Singapore – bp started in Singapore as an oil refining and marketing company in 1964 and has evolved into a key regional headquarters and hub for bp to trade, plan, invest, and make significant decisions for operations in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions. Today, it stands as one of the four global hubs for bp Trading & Shipping (T&S).
bp Singapore’s business and activities support the group’s ongoing transformation from an international oil company (IOC) into an integrated energy company (IEC), focusing on three key areas of activity, including its five transition growth engines:
- Trading & Shipping: bp Singapore serves as the regional headquarters for T&S in the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions, trading oil, gas, chemicals, and lower carbon products such as biofuels and power. The location is also recognized as a regional center for bunkering and consistently ranks among the top marine fuel suppliers in the country.
- Castrol: The Castrol division in Singapore has established deep customer relationships across 11 countries, offering consumer, industrial, and marine lubricants, alongside operating a marine lubricants blending plant.
- Gas & Low Carbon Energy (G&LCE): This team supports development and operational projects in the region, focusing on natural gas, carbon capture and storage (CCS), lower carbon fuels like hydrogen and its derivatives, as well as wind and solar energy.
As Sonnich Thomsen steps into this pivotal role at bp Singapore, he is well-positioned to leverage his profound knowledge and leadership capabilities to enhance bp’s stature as a leading player in the maritime fuel market. His appointment is anticipated to drive innovative strategies and solidify bp’s reputation in the bunkering industry.
