AD Ports Group and Oylz Terminals begins construction on a state-of-the-art 660,000 cbm petroleum storage facility at Khalifa Port with a 16m draft jetty to boost regional trading.
Abu Dhabi | February 24, 2026 – AD Ports Group and Oylz Terminals has officially broken ground on a massive new clean petroleum and refined products storage facility at Khalifa Port, marking a pivotal expansion of the UAE’s energy infrastructure.
The ceremony follows the signing of a landmark 50-year agreement with Oylz Terminals. The project is designed to bolster Abu Dhabi’s midstream capabilities and solidify its standing as a premier global commodity distribution hub.
Strategic Capacity and Phased Development
The state-of-the-art terminal will boast a total capacity of 660,000 cubic meters (cbm). Strategically located within Khalifa Port, the facility is designed to handle a wide range of clean petroleum products, catering to the increasing demand for regional energy storage and sophisticated trading solutions.
The project will be executed in two distinct stages:
- Phase 1: Targeted for commissioning within an 18–24 month construction window.
- Phase 2: Will further scale the facility’s footprint to reach the full 660,000 cbm capacity.
Strengthening the Global Supply Chain
By integrating large-scale liquid bulk storage into Khalifa Port’s existing ecosystem, AD Ports Group is directly addressing the “last-mile” logistics of energy trading. This development allows for more efficient blending, storage, and redistribution of refined products, reducing overhead for international energy majors and local traders alike.
“This development will strengthen our position in the regional energy storage and trading landscape, reinforcing our role in advancing the UAE’s status as a leading commodity distribution hub.” said AD Ports Group
Economic Impact and Vision
Beyond the maritime and energy sectors, the terminal is expected to be a significant driver of the local economy. The 50-year commitment signals long-term stability for investors and is projected to create numerous specialized employment opportunities in terminal management, engineering, and logistics.
The move aligns with the UAE’s broader economic diversification strategy, ensuring that while the nation remains a powerhouse in energy production, it also masters the infrastructure required for global energy distribution.
