The Role: Marine Fuels Trader – Americas
As a Marine Fuels Trader, you will be responsible for developing and executing trading strategies for physical marine fuel products and financial derivatives across the Americas. The role covers North and South American markets, with a particular focus on Panama, the Caribbean, and the U.S. Gulf Coast, while also identifying arbitrage opportunities linking Europe and Asia.
You will manage a diverse portfolio that includes HSFO, VLSFO, MGO, BioBunker fuels, and feedstocks such as SRFO, VGO, and bitumen, working closely with Repsol’s international trading desks and refinery systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute trading strategies for physical products and derivatives
- Monitor and manage risk exposure associated with trading activities
- Perform daily market analysis to identify trading and arbitrage opportunities
- Manage and grow a portfolio of external clients
- Promote arbitrage strategies between the Americas, Europe, and Asia
- Contribute to mid-term business planning and new commercial initiatives
- Oversee blending operations at terminals to ensure product quality and efficiency
- Identify opportunities to optimize time-chartered vessel utilization
- Collaborate closely with trading teams in Lima, Madrid, and Singapore, as well as internal refinery and trading divisions
Candidate Profile
Qualifications & Experience
- Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Engineering, Business, or a related field
- Minimum three years of experience in oil trading (physical and derivatives)
- Prior experience in marine fuels trading within the Americas is strongly preferred
- Proven ability to identify and develop new business opportunities
