Abu Dhabi, UAE – AD Ports Group, a prominent enabler of global trade, logistics, and industry, has signed a Head of Terms Agreement with Advario, a leading global provider of tank storage and infrastructure solutions. The agreement outlines the intent to establish a joint venture that would focus on the development and operation of green energy and liquid bulk storage projects both in the United Arab Emirates and on a global scale.

Under the proposed structure of the partnership, AD Ports Group would hold a 51% stake, with Advario owning the remaining 49%, marking a significant alignment of strategic interests in clean energy infrastructure and chemical bulk storage. The collaboration aims to capitalize on both companies’ complementary capabilities and market access, with the ultimate goal of unlocking sustainable growth opportunities in emerging energy sectors.

As part of the agreement, AD Ports Group would work closely with Star Energy, Advario’s partner in the UAE, to explore the potential of this joint initiative. Should the joint venture be formalized, Advario would spearhead the development of bulk storage tanks at Khalifa Port, alongside supporting pipeline infrastructure to serve clients operating in KEZAD (Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi), the largest integrated industrial zone network in the Middle East.

The partnership is poised to strengthen AD Ports Group’s existing liquid bulk capabilities, while also serving as a springboard for future investments in clean energy infrastructure. These investments may include hydrogen-based fuels such as ammonia, methanol, and other emerging sustainable fuel sources. This move is part of a broader effort to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for multi-fuel bunkering and sustainable energy solutions.

Executive Statements

Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, expressed his optimism about the collaboration:

“We look forward to exploring this joint venture, which has the potential to build on our Group’s growing investment in sustainable infrastructure, in line with the vision of our wise leadership in the UAE to position Abu Dhabi as a global hub for multi-fuel bunkering and sustainable energy solutions. We look forward to exploring with Advario the possibility of leveraging our combined capabilities to drive sustainability, operational excellence, and deliver long-term value to our stakeholders.”

Bas Verkooijen, CEO of Advario, emphasized the strategic value of the partnership in advancing cleaner and more resilient energy systems:

“We are excited to take this important step toward creating a joint venture with AD Ports Group. This partnership supports our long-term vision to develop world-class infrastructure for the energy systems of tomorrow. By joining forces in the UAE, we are reinforcing our ambition to be a strategic partner in the region’s transition toward greener and more resilient supply chains, building on our existing presence in the Middle East.”

Global Ambitions and Energy Transition Goals

Beyond domestic ambitions, the proposed joint venture would also assess international expansion opportunities, with plans to support clean energy infrastructure projects across EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) and other global markets. Areas of focus include clean energy carriers, critical energy infrastructure, and integrated storage systems such as pipelines, jetties, and logistics networks.

This initiative aligns with AD Ports Group’s broader strategic objectives to bolster Abu Dhabi’s role in the global energy transition. It supports both local and international energy security while encouraging the adoption of more sustainable, future-ready fuel alternatives.
