The International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA), has announced the appointment of Jon Hughes, Managing Director of Dan-Bunkering Africa, as the new Chair of the IBIA Africa Regional Board. Hughes succeeds Paul Maclons, who has led the board since 2021, guiding the region through a period of strategic growth and enhanced industry engagement.

Industry Veteran to Lead Africa’s Bunkering Development

With more than 20 years of experience in the marine fuel industry, Jon Hughes brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the role. His career has spanned critical areas of bunker trading, logistics, and supply chain management, and he has been instrumental in expanding Dan-Bunkering’s presence and operations throughout Africa.

In his new position, Hughes will be responsible for spearheading regional initiatives, strengthening collaboration among industry stakeholders, and promoting sustainable bunkering practices across the continent.
