SK Energy International, a subsidiary of SK Trading International, is currently hiring a Fuel Oil Trader to join their team in Singapore. Fuel Oil Trader – Role Overview:

The Fuel Oil Trader will join the FO/Material Biz Office, working closely with the department head and the broader trading team. The primary responsibility of the role will involve managing the trading and physical operations of fuel oil petroleum products, with a focus on bunkering activities and freight chartering for arbitrage cargoes. The successful candidate will execute and manage physical and paper trading operations, maintain effective communication with stakeholders, and provide insightful market analysis and reporting.

This role will require a deep understanding of the global fuel oil supply and demand dynamics, as well as experience in marine fuel oil cargo trading, price hedging, and documentation management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fuel Oil Trading Operations: Execute and manage physical and paper trading for fuel oil, including spot and term contract terms, in line with market developments.
  • Market Analysis & Reporting: Produce regular market analysis, including cargo tracking, and provide comprehensive reporting on trading activities. Maintain daily Mark-to-Market reporting and deliver strategic management reports.
  • Bunkering & Freight Chartering: Have an in-depth understanding of bunkering operations and manage freight chartering for arbitrage cargoes.
  • Compliance & Regulations: Ensure adherence to both internal and external regulatory requirements and trading limits.
  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including internal teams, customers, and external partners. Work collaboratively with various teams to drive trading optimization.
  • Coordination with HQ: Maintain close communication with SK Energy’s headquarters in Korea, addressing system requirements and refining activity changes as needed.
  • Strategic Planning: Devise strategies for market penetration, conflict management, and customer relationship management (CRM) to improve business relationships and drive long-term success.

Business Support & Leadership:

  • Provide other traders with essential market information and recommend effective hedging strategies.
  • Demonstrate leadership in strategic planning, aligning the team with organizational goals, and fostering a culture of service excellence and high performance.
  • Actively contribute to creating a collaborative, open, and positive work environment by leading by example.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of trading experience, including storage and physical trading operations of fuel oil and petroleum products.
  • Solid knowledge of bunkering activities and freight chartering, with experience in marine fuel oil cargo trading and physical price hedging.
  • Familiarity with shipping and import/export documentation processes.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Trading, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience with THOR/CXL systems would be an advantage.
  • Excellent market understanding, including familiarity with international bunker business trends, regulations, and industry news.
  • Strong negotiation skills and proven experience in managing customer relationships through CRM systems.
  • Capability to work effectively within a multicultural environment, interacting with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, motivation, and organizational skills, with the ability to perform under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
