Chane Terminal Geulhaven is pleased to announce the opening of the second phase of its terminal expansion at the Port of Rotterdam, increasing its total storage capacity to 150,000 cbm. This new development, known as “Phase Two,” adds an impressive 75,000 cbm of storage capacity, specifically focused on feedstocks for biofuels, further solidifying Chane’s commitment to supporting the energy transition.

The expanded terminal, located at Geulhaven, was officially opened on 25 September 2024, following a rapid nine-month construction period led by a multidisciplinary team. This additional capacity plays a crucial role in enabling Chane to meet the increasing demand for biofuels storage, a key component in driving forward sustainable energy solutions.

Wouter Verbeek, Business Unit Director at Chane, highlighted the company’s focus on safety and sustainability in developing this project: “Safety is our highest priority, so we’re proud of the excellent safety performance we’ve achieved at this terminal. The construction and commissioning phases for this project were completed without any major incidents. Now, we’re ready for operation, marking a wonderful achievement by our entire team.”

Phase Two is equipped with cutting-edge technology to optimize energy consumption, including an energy-efficient heating system and a power consumption monitoring system, underscoring Chane’s ongoing commitment to sustainability.
