Titan, a leading provider of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biomethane (LBM) to the maritime industry, has successfully completed first-ever LNG bunkering for the newly built Peony Leader, a Pure Car and Truck Carrier (PCTC) vessel, at the Port of Zeebrugge. This operation marks a significant milestone in both the vessel’s maiden voyage and its first-ever LNG bunkering.
The LNG bunkering was carried out using Optimus, one of Titan’s state-of-the-art LNG bunkering vessels (LBV), which played a crucial role in delivering the clean fuel to the Peony Leader. The Optimus crew closely supported the bunkering operation, providing essential guidance and information to the seafarers onboard the vehicle carrier to ensure a smooth and efficient process.
This first LNG bunkering for the Peony Leader is particularly notable as it highlights the growing trend of LNG dual-fuel PCTC vessels. With the increasing number of newbuild PCTCs adopting LNG as a cleaner, more sustainable fuel option, Titan is well-positioned to support this transition across the maritime sector. Titan’s collaboration with Chimbusco Pan Nation, a Hong Kong-based marine fuel supplier, further strengthens their partnership in facilitating LNG bunkering for such vessels, underscoring the importance of strategic collaboration in advancing decarbonization goals within the shipping industry.
Titan’s Continued Commitment to Clean Fuel Solutions
Titan Clean Fuels, founded in 2012 and headquartered in Amsterdam, has become a leader in the global LNG and LBM markets, providing end-to-end clean fuel solutions to the maritime industry. Titan’s expertise spans project planning, fuel supply, delivery, risk management, and hedging services, ensuring a reliable and sustainable supply chain for the shipping industry’s ongoing transition to cleaner energy.
In this operation, Titan demonstrated its ability to perform SIMOPS (simultaneous operations) bunkering, which significantly reduces downtime for vessels in port and ensures uninterrupted service. This approach is vital as more shipping companies seek to reduce their environmental impact while maintaining operational efficiency.
Supporting the Maritime Industry’s Decarbonization
The successful LNG bunkering of the Peony Leader underscores Titan’s role in supporting the maritime industry’s decarbonization journey. LNG and LBM are currently the most viable fuels for reducing the carbon emissions of vessels, and Titan is at the forefront of providing these solutions. Over the next few decades, LBM will play an increasingly critical role in decarbonizing the shipping sector.
Titan’s ongoing investment in infrastructure for LNG, BioLNG, and future hydrogen-derived fuels positions the company to support the industry’s future needs. As new technologies emerge, Titan’s infrastructure will be adaptable, ensuring that the shipping industry can seamlessly transition to future carbon-neutral fuel solutions.
Looking Ahead: Expanding LNG Bunkering Operations
With the Peony Leader successfully bunkered with LNG, Titan is looking forward to many more LNG bunkering operations in collaboration with Chimbusco Pan Nation and other shipowners within the PCTC segment. As the number of LNG dual-fuelled PCTCs continues to rise, Titan’s global supply network and infrastructure will be critical in supporting these vessels’ fuel needs. Titan’s commercial team is also actively engaging with clients, ensuring that its flexible and reliable clean fuel solutions are available to meet the growing demand.
