SUARDIAZ Group has deployed its newly acquired IMO2 chemical tanker, the RS Onza, to provide advanced bunkering and transport services for Moeve in Spanish and European ports. Equipped to handle alternative marine fuels like methanol, the vessel marks a major step forward in both companies’ strategies to drive maritime decarbonization.
Madrid, Spain | May 21, 2026 – In a strategic move cementing its footprint in sustainable marine logistics, the SUARDIAZ Group, operating through its specialized SUARDIAZ Energy division, has finalized an agreement to deploy its newly acquired vessel, the RS Onza, for energy major Moeve.
The vessel, an advanced IMO2 chemical tanker with full capability to transport methanol, represents a critical leap forward in the handling, transport, and delivery of next-generation green marine fuels.
A Strategic Asset for European and Spanish Ports
Freshly delivered to SUARDIAZ in Singapore, the RS Onza has already arrived in European waters and has commenced operational services primarily across Spanish ports. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology tailored for the safe transport of evolving fuel alternatives, the vessel directly addresses the shipping industry’s urgent demand for specialized infrastructure capable of managing low-carbon and zero-emission marine energy carriers.
Leadership Perspectives
Industry leaders from both organizations underscored the strategic importance of the collaboration in advancing maritime energy transition:
“Our agreement with Moeve strengthens our longstanding relationship and is yet another sign of the confidence the energy sector places in us. Our extensive experience in the maritime and bunkering sectors enables us to continue moving forward by delivering more innovative and sustainable solutions.” commented, Juan Riva, CEO of SUARDIAZ Group
“The RS Onza is equipped with the latest technology for the transport and delivery of new fuels.” added, Fernando Barreras, Director of SUARDIAZ Energy
Samir Fernandez, Director of Marine Solutions & Trading at Moeve, stated “The incorporation of the RS Onza strengthens our capacity to advance logistics solutions better suited to new fuels. This agreement with SUARDIAZ is another step forward in Moeve’s roadmap to drive the decarbonisation of maritime transport.”
SUARDIAZ Energy’s Expanding Operational Footprint
The integration of the RS Onza bolsters SUARDIAZ Energy’s robust operational framework, which is structured around two key pillars:
- The Offshore Division: Focused on the specialized operation of offshore support vessels.
- The Tanker Division: Dedicated to oil tankers, chemical tankers, and bunkering barge operations, with active units currently stationed in strategic hubs like Barcelona and Ceuta.
Looking ahead, SUARDIAZ is accelerating its fleet modernization and expansion pipeline. The group has additional newbuild units currently under construction slated for delivery in 2027, alongside ongoing designs for a dedicated LNG bunkering vessel. These initiatives align with the company’s broader corporate commitment to deploying larger, more flexible tonnage capable of safely handling both conventional petroleum-derived products and cutting-edge alternative marine fuels.
