The Role: Bunker Trader — Istanbul, Turkey
As a Bunker Trader at Petrol Ofisi, you will be a key driver of the company’s bunker trading business. This role involves managing the full trade cycle, from market research and customer acquisition to negotiation and payment collection. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of autonomy, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure customer satisfaction and support the company’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily back-to-back bunker trading.
- Market Petrol Ofisi’s bunker trading business to third-party customers.
- Conduct market research to identify prospective new customers and win new business.
- Negotiate terms and conditions for bunker supply agreements with suppliers and customers.
- Handle the end-to-end trade cycle: trading, fixture/post-fixture, delivery, and payment collection.
- Drive customer satisfaction by fostering strong relationships and delivering expert advice on bunker solutions.
- Manage risk management activities in accordance with corporate tolerances.
- Monitor market trends and supply chain developments to ensure competitive trading performance.
- Develop a healthy sales pipeline and support monthly KPIs to assist in reaching team and office targets.
Candidate Profile Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Shipping, Oil & Gas, or a related field.
- At least 5-7 years of experience as a bunker trader with a strong sales track record.
- Proven ability to develop business and bring in new clients from the outset.
- Back-to-back sales experience and in-depth knowledge of marine fuels, shipping operations, and bunker trading.
- High proficiency in English is essential; additional languages are an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP.
