PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) and PT Pertamina Patra Niaga (PPN) agreed to sign a cooperation agreement for the marketing of bunker fuel to international bunker markets on Thursday, May 11, 2023, in Jakarta. Through this Pertamina Group synergy, it is expected to obtain highly competitive selling prices and attract consumers to optimize the bunker market, especially for ocean going vessels.
The signing of the cooperation agreement was carried out by Sani Dinar Saifuddin, Director of Feedstock & Product Optimization of PT KPI, and Riva Siahaan, Director of Marketing Center and Trading of PT PPN.
Indonesia is one of the hubs for international shipping, with approximately 4,000 vessel calls per year in Indonesia, estimating a potential bunker demand of 800,000 tons per year in several ports throughout Indonesia, including Nipah, Jakarta, Surabaya, and Balikpapan.
Sani Dinar Saifuddin, Director of Feedstock & Product Optimization at PT KPI, referred to the cooperation as a historic milestone for KPI regarding the sale of bunker fuel for foreign vessels.
“The bunker market is still very open for the Pertamina Group to increase market share in the international bunker market. By upholding Pertamina First, KPI and PPN agreed to synergize for joint marketing of ocean-going bunker sales, where KPI acts as a producer and seller of bunker fuel to customers, and PPN serves as a marketing arm, storage, and handling agent,” explained Sani.
With this agreement, it is expected to expand the reach to the international market and provide added value not only for KPI but also for PPN.
Riva Siahaan, Director of Marketing Center and Trading of PT PPN, expressed: the cooperation is a milestone for Pertamina Patra Niaga. Riva stated that the cooperation allows PPN to enter the bunker market, which is expected to further develop into other facilities in the future. “Because we are One,” emphasized Riva.
