In a welcome development for the bunkering industry in the Southern Africa region, CPG Bunkering, Regions leading marine fuel supplier, has announced the recent arrival of its new Very Low Sulfur Fuel Oil (VLSFO) cargo at the port of Nacala that has alleviated supply pressures and contributed to a reduction in lead times for booking stems. This positive change extends across all bunker fuel grades available in Nacala, including High Sulfur Fuel Oil (HSFO), VLSFO, and Low Sulfur Marine Gas Oil (LSMGO). However, stakeholders are advised that barge schedules in the region remain tight for prompt inquiries.

The visible impact of this supply boost was captured during a Ship-to-Ship (STS) transfer, with CPG Bunkering’s floating storage vessel, Deniz Sultan, moored in Nacala’s inner anchorage. The vessel, equipped with 7 tanks and 3 double valve segregations, is strategically positioned to store and transfer HSFO, VLSFO, and LSMGO.

CPG Bunkering, a subsidiary of Civitas Partners Group, has been a key player in Southern Africa since 2012. The company specializes in providing competitive and efficient bunkering services in Maputo and Nacala., boasting its own storage facilities and in-port delivery barge. This infrastructure allows CPG Bunkering to accommodate and supply various grades of marine fuels, both at anchorage and at berth.

Highlighting their expertise in Ship-to-Ship operations, CPG Bunkering’s vessels have successfully transferred over 600,000 tons of fuels since commencing operations in Nacala in 2018. The company’s commitment to reliability and efficiency positions it as a crucial contributor to the region’s maritime fuel supply chain.

As the maritime industry continues to navigate challenges related to fuel availability and scheduling constraints, the arrival of the new VLSFO cargo and the capabilities of CPG Bunkering are expected to play a pivotal role in maintaining a steady and reliable fuel supply in the port of Nacala.
