Maersk Tankers and ZeroNorth Partnership

Copenhagen, Denmark | January 05, 2026 – ZeroNorth has announced a 5-year renewal and significant expansion of its strategic partnership with Maersk Tankers. The agreement, which scales ZeroNorth’s digital ecosystem to approximately 240 vessels, underscores a long-term commitment to operational efficiency and the industry’s journey toward zero emissions.

The expanded deal encompasses the entire fleet of tankers and gas carriers under Maersk Tankers’ commercial management. This renewal is a powerful market signal of the value found in “data for truth,” particularly as Maersk Tankers prepares for its landmark transition into the ammonia segment with the launch of its Very Large Ammonia Carrier (VLAC) fleet starting later this year.

Integrated Technology

The partnership centers on a unified digital framework designed to dissolve the silos between ship and shore. By integrating billion of data points, the collaboration focuses on three high-impact technological pillars:

  • ZeroNorth Onboard: Empowers Masters with real-time routing and speed recommendations. This browser-based solution allows for autonomous en route adjustments based on high-frequency weather forecasts and sophisticated fuel models, ensuring voyages are optimized for both profit and planet.
  • SMARTShip Integration: Leveraging an Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) platform, this tool provides high-fidelity data quality management. It allows shore-based teams to virtually “visit” a ship, visualizing operational parameters and performance data in real-time to prevent discrepancies and maximize vessel efficiency.
  • Voyage Optimisation: By streamlining internal processes, the platform enhances reporting quality and decision-making. This is critical for high-stakes commercial operations where minute adjustments in speed and fuel consumption can significantly impact a voyage’s bottom line and carbon footprint.
Driving Operational Clarity

For Maersk Tankers, the expansion is a critical step in simplifying the increasingly complex landscape of modern shipping. As the company brings its technical management back in-house through 2026, the digital backbone provided by ZeroNorth ensures that commercial and technical teams remain perfectly aligned.

“With the expanded scope of our partnership with ZeroNorth we aim to simplify our internal processes while increasing our reporting quality and making our decision making on voyage execution and performance measures much better,” said Michael Schytt Christensen, Global Head of Operations at Maersk Tankers.

Commenting on the expansion, Søren Christian Meyer, Founder & CEO of ZeroNorth, stated:

“I am really proud to extend our partnership with Maersk Tankers. This renewal is a testament to the trust we have built and our shared commitment to driving digital excellence and sustainability across the global fleet.”
