Lhyfe, a leader in green hydrogen production, has announced a new partnership with Elyse Energy, a trailblazer in low-carbon molecules. The collaboration aims to advance the production of e-methanol from green hydrogen within the Loire Estuary’s industrial and logistics port ecosystem.
In November 2023, Lhyfe was selected as the winner of a call for expression of interest (CEI) issued by the Nantes Saint-Nazaire port authority (Grand Port Maritime de Nantes Saint-Nazaire). This opportunity will see Lhyfe establish an industrial green hydrogen production and distribution operation at the Montoir-de-Bretagne site, with a focus on decarbonizing maritime transport.
The newly announced partnership between Lhyfe and Elyse Energy marks their first joint effort. They have signed an exclusive agreement to conduct a feasibility study covering technical, economic, financial, and regulatory aspects of producing e-methanol from green hydrogen at this site. This study is a crucial step in assessing the viability of the project.
E-methanol, a clean fuel, is essential for reducing carbon emissions in maritime transport, a sector that faces significant challenges in achieving carbon neutrality and moving away from fossil fuels.
The implementation of this project will be contingent upon the study’s results, securing necessary operating licenses and building permits, and making financial investment decisions. The partners plan to present their project in September 2024.
