Headway Technology Methanol Fuel Supply System Supports the Successful FAT of China’s First Methanol Dual-Fuel Low-Speed Engine. the Final Acceptance Test (FAT) Ceremony of China’s first Methanol Dual-Fuel Low-Speed Engine was successfully conducted by Dalian Marine Diesel Co., Ltd. (DMD) under CSSC Power Group on May 18 in Dalian. This monumental achievement marks the fruition of rigorous efforts in developing and testing the 6G50ME-C9.6-LGIM+EGRBP main engine, the first of its kind in China to utilize methanol as a dual-fuel source.
Key to this success was the seamless operation of the methanol dual-fuel test platform at DMD, facilitated by the robust Methanol Fuel Supply System (LFSS) provided by Headway Technology Group (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. This LFSS played a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth functioning of critical system components, thereby laying a strong foundation for the FAT of the main engine.
The methanol dual-fuel test platform at DMD, comprehensively equipped with Headway’s integrated solution, encompassed essential modules such as the methanol fuel supply module, auxiliary heat exchange system, nitrogen system, and control and security system. Notably, these modules, including their auxiliary counterparts, were developed and manufactured in-house by Headway, marking a significant breakthrough in domestically-produced methanol fuel supply system solutions.
The successful FAT not only validates the operational efficiency and safety of Headway’s Oceanguard® methanol fuel supply system but also underscores its compatibility with mainstream low-speed engines. Throughout the project lifecycle, Headway exhibited exemplary project management prowess, leveraging advanced techniques like dynamic simulation and virtual commissioning to expedite equipment delivery, installation, and commissioning. Noteworthy is Headway’s proactive approach in tailoring the main engine simulation unit to project-specific parameters, ensuring optimized performance under varying operational conditions.
The achievement of FAT for China’s first methanol dual-fuel low-speed engine signifies a remarkable milestone in the country’s marine power equipment sector, signaling a decisive leap forward for Headway in the realm of low-carbon shipping solutions. Looking ahead, Headway remains steadfast in its commitment to forge synergistic partnerships with DMD and global stakeholders in the realm of alternative marine fuels. By delivering reliable, stable, and efficient alternative energy solutions, Headway endeavors to propel the global shipping industry towards decarbonization, emission reduction, and sustainable development.
