Copenhagen, Denmark | 19 January 2026 – Global Fuel Supply (GFS), together with its sustainability-focused subsidiary Blue Energy Partners, has officially established a permanent presence in South Africa with the opening of a new office in Cape Town. The announcement was made during Maritime Week Africa, marking a significant milestone in the group’s continued expansion across the African continent.
The new South African office strengthens Global Fuel Supply and Blue Energy Partners’ ability to support maritime, offshore, and marine energy operations throughout Southern Africa. By establishing a local hub in Cape Town, the group aims to enhance operational responsiveness, deepen collaboration with regional stakeholders, and deliver faster, more efficient execution for its global customer base.
According to Lamin Bara, Chief Commercial Officer of Global Fuel Supply, the expansion aligns naturally with the company’s broader African growth strategy:
“The opening of our Cape Town office is a key milestone in our African expansion strategy and a natural development alongside our established physical supply operations in Angola. Africa continues to play an increasingly important role in global trade and marine energy activities, and a presence in South Africa allows us to scale our capabilities across the continent.”

Strategic Location to Support Regional Maritime Operations
Building on its success in Angola (west Africa), including the recent acquisition of its first owned bunker tanker, the MV Blue Alliance, GFS brings proven operational strength to the South African bunker market.
The first appointment at the South African office is industry veteran Jacqui Taylor, who joins as Senior Fuel Supplier. With more than 25 years of industry experience, Taylor brings deep expertise across offshore logistics, vessel operations, voyage planning, and regulatory compliance. Her career includes managing high-complexity marine projects such as drilling rig relocations, offshore asset movements, and Platform Supply Vessel (PSV) operations in challenging environments.
“With strong access to regional suppliers and Jacqui’s deep experience in African marine energy operations, we are well positioned to support our global customer base with reliable, tailored marine logistics solutions throughout Africa,” Lamin Bara added.
Strengthening Customer Confidence and Operational Control
Jacqui Taylor, Senior Fuel Supplier at GFS, emphasized the importance of establishing a permanent local presence:
“Establishing a permanent office in South Africa is an important step for the business. It allows us to be closer to our customers and operations, understand local requirements in detail, and manage risks more effectively. I’m looking forward to building a strong local operation that delivers consistent, reliable support to our customers in the region.”
Linking Physical Supply with Strategic Energy Services
Launched in Oslo in 2025, Blue Energy Partners supports sustainable marine practices and low-carbon fuel solutions across global shipping operations. The Cape Town expansion reflects this dual strategy, enhancing on-the-ground fuel and logistics capabilities while aligning closely with sustainability, compliance, and risk management as regulatory pressures on the shipping industry continue to grow.
Camilla Marie Christensen, Trading Director at Blue Energy Partners, highlighted the strategic importance of the Cape Town hub for customer service and execution:
“With the opening of our Cape Town office, we are significantly strengthening our ability to support customers in the region. Closer proximity enables faster execution and tighter operational control. Jacqui’s hands-on experience and local oversight provide our customers with confidence and security when placing orders with us. This presence ensures optimal coverage, efficient logistics, and a consistently high level of service across Southern Africa.”
