Glander International Bunkering, a leading global bunker trading firm, has successfully facilitated two consecutive BioLNG deliveries in March 2025 for Neste’s LNG-fueled tanker fleet. These deliveries not only highlight Glander’s ability to manage complex logistics and meet tight deadlines but also showcase its commitment to supporting clients’ Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives by using lower-carbon fuels.
Coordinating Complex BioLNG Deliveries
These two back-to-back BioLNG deliveries took place in Antwerp, Belgium, and Hamina, Finland, where Glander International Bunkering successfully supplied BioLNG to replace fossil LNG, reducing the carbon footprint of Neste’s vessels. The operation required seamless coordination and expert handling, particularly due to the short notice and multiple locations involved.
“These deliveries were particularly significant, as we successfully coordinated both supplies at different locations on short notice while ensuring all necessary certifications were in place,” said Alvaro Sierra, Sales Manager at Glander International Bunkering. “It was a demanding operation that required precision, expertise, and strong collaboration, and we successfully delivered.”
Sustainability at the Core
The BioLNG supplied in both locations was crucial in helping Neste reduce the carbon emissions of its LNG-fueled vessels, ensuring the transition to more sustainable energy sources. A mass balancing approach was applied to verify that the agreed-upon volume of BioLNG had replaced fossil LNG, ensuring both efficiency and accuracy in the operation.
Sander Wilgenhof, Head of Shipping at Neste, emphasized the importance of these deliveries: “Sea transports are one of the most efficient ways to transport our raw materials and refined fuels – and BioLNG is one of the alternative fuels that allows us to reduce the carbon footprint of our logistics,” he said.
Glander’s Role in the New Fuel Transition
Since 2023, Glander International Bunkering has emerged as a key player in the supply of LNG and BioLNG, handling landmark operations such as ship-to-ship, truck-to-ship, and terminal-to-ship bunkering. These consecutive BioLNG supplies further demonstrate Glander’s ability to facilitate the transition to alternative fuels in the maritime industry.
The company’s expertise in sustainable marine fuel solutions makes it a trusted partner for companies seeking to reduce their environmental impact through cleaner energy sources.
Neste’s Commitment to Sustainable Shipping
Neste has long been a leader in renewable fuel production, and these recent BioLNG deliveries represent an important milestone in their sustainability efforts. By replacing traditional fossil LNG with bio-based LNG for their vessels HALTI and SAANA, Neste has significantly reduced the carbon footprint of their sea transport operations. The company continues to focus on providing renewable fuels for maritime transportation and is dedicated to further reducing emissions in its logistics operations.
“We are eager to see two of our chartered vessels, HALTI and SAANA, bunkering BioLNG as marine fuel, with the help of our partner Glander International Bunkering, both vessels replaced the fossil liquid natural gas (LNG) they are usually powered with, with BioLNG, allowing us to reduce the carbon footprint of our sea transports.”
