The ship recently underwent a biofuel bunkering operation at IJmuiden, the Netherlands, where it took on board GoodFuels biofuel supplied by FincoEnergies. This eco-friendly fuel blend, consisting of FAME (Fatty Acid Methyl Ester) and MGO (Marine Gas Oil), boasts 30% lower carbon emissions compared to regular MGO.
This strategic move aligns with ForestWave’s commitment to trial alternative fuels and gain valuable insights into biofuels, setting the stage for upcoming environmental regulations outlined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Moreover, it aligns with ForestWave’s overarching goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
The trial of GoodFuels biofuel on MV FWN Spirit serves as a significant step towards reducing the carbon footprint of ForestWave’s shipping operations.
