Bunker One is now looking for a skilled candidate to lead a finance team of 6. You will provide support in all areas of accounting which requires a service-minded and structured approach towards all stakeholders as well as a hands-on approach. You will be reporting to the Finance Director, Americas for Bunker One.
Focus on finance and accounting through a commercial mindset
The office environment can be described as dynamic, fast-paced, expanding, and versatile, in which not 2 days are the same. Therefore, the perfect candidate will be an experienced result-driven and commercially minded accountancy professional with a proven track record of providing comprehensive advice and effective solutions in all day-to-day accounting and finance matters. The position does not only require a hands-on approach towards tasks such as journal entry preparation, monthly account reconciliations and processing of month-end accruals, but also a candidate that thrives with a versatile workday with additional ad-hoc tasks going on, simultaneously with leading and developing the team.
In more details your assignments will include, but will not be limited to:
- Preparation of accurate and timely monthly accounts including deviation analysis against estimates and budgets
- Preparation of external and internal financial statements and liaison with auditors to ensure deadlines are met
- Reviewing risk exposure on open positions and ensure hedging in line with group policies
- Ensure correct valuation and reconciliation of physical inventory on all locations
- Support and assist the account team with day-to-day operational matters
- Preparation of annual budgets
- Ensure reconciliation of intercompany transactions in line with Group instructions
- Perform all other duties as assigned and required

Furthermore, the right candidate enjoys a high degree of responsibility and independence and have great management skills. You are detail oriented, possess a high level of accuracy, a multi-tasker and team player. Additionally, you possess that gut feeling and challenge status-quo and dare to ask questions in situations where “normality” might be out of order.
In addition, you have:
- Bachelor’s degree or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; certification such as a Certified Public Controller (CPA with natural flare for numbers)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as Financial Controller/Finance Manager
- Strong analytical intellectual power and knowledge about economic correlations
- Commodity based company experience or general understanding of hedging – experience within oil and stock hedging would be considered an advantage but not a requirement.
- Experience with ERP systems (preferably Microsoft Dynamics NAV)
- Experience with Microsoft Office (advanced Excel skills)
- Able to work in a hectic environment with often short and interchanging deadlines
