The partnership between the oil company, ExxonMobil, and the Taiwanese shipping company, Evergreen Line, successfully conducted a commercial marine biofuel bunkering at the Port of Singapore.

ExxonMobil’s marine biofuel oil blend was transferred to Evergreen Line’s vessel, Ever Ulysses, through a ship-to-ship (STS) operation in Singapore waters, before the vessel proceeded to the discharge port.

The marine biofuel oil consists of a blend of conventional 0.50 percent sulfur fuel and up to 25 percent waste-based fatty acid methyl esters (FAME).

The resulting blend reportedly meets the fuel standard ISO 8217:2017 established by the International Organization for Standardization, with the exception of FAME content, which complies with EN 14214.

Molly Mok, Director of Evergreen Marine (Asia) Pte Ltd, expressed “gratitude for the steadfast support from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) in their collaborative biofuel trial program with ExxonMobil and the vessel’s classification society.”

“As one of the major global carriers, our commitment lies in decarbonizing maritime shipping. We are actively pursuing viable solutions to achieve our carbon-neutrality goal by 2050,” emphasized Mok.

Rebecca Monk, Asia Pacific Sales Director, Marine and Aviation, ExxonMobil Asia Pacific Pte Ltd, remarked, “We are delighted to collaborate with Evergreen Line on the successful delivery of marine biofuel oil in Singapore. At ExxonMobil, we take pride in providing and enhancing crucial products while working towards IMO targets and assisting our customers in achieving their decarbonization objectives.”

“We remain dedicated to advancing solutions for lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, including our goal of supplying 200,000 barrels per day of lower GHG emission fuels by 2030,” Monk added.
