SINGAPORE | November 14, 2025 – Eastern Pacific Shipping Pte. Ltd. (EPS), the Singapore-based shipping major, has achieved a significant operational milestone by completing its 500th ship-to-ship (STS) Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering operation. The achievement, five years in the making, underscores the company’s aggressive strategy in adopting transitional fuels and its leadership role in scaling cleaner maritime operations.

Milestone Operation at Port of Marseille-FOS, France
The landmark bunkering was conducted for the container vessel CMA CGM Bali at the Port of Marseille-FOS, France. The marine LNG was supplied by French energy giant TotalEnergies using its chartered LNG bunkering vessel, the Gas Vitality, a vessel with an 18,600 m³ capacity and a key asset for LNG supply in the Mediterranean.
The Scale of Commitment
The 500-operation mark reflects the operational maturity of LNG bunkering as a mainstream fuel solution. EPS has distinguished itself as an early mover, having invested heavily in dual-fuel technology at a time when its viability was still under market scrutiny.
“At a time when LNG was still gaining ground, EPS took early steps to adopt LNG dual-fuel technology, guided by the principle of not letting the perfect be an enemy of good,”
Those early investments have materialized into one of the largest dual-fuel fleets globally, comprising 137 LNG dual-fuel vessels across its core segments of container, dry bulk, gas, and tanker tonnage. This commitment places EPS at the forefront of the industry’s shift toward immediate emissions reduction.
- Immediate Environmental Benefit: LNG as a marine fuel eliminates virtually all Sulfur Oxides (SOx) and Particulate Matter, while significantly reducing Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) and offering up to a 20% cut in CO₂ emissions compared to conventional heavy fuel oil.
- Operational Excellence: The success is credited to the seamless coordination between EPS’s sea staff, shore-based teams, and global partners, validating the safety and efficiency protocols established for complex STS operations.
Market Leadership and Alternative Fuels
This milestone validates large-scale STS bunkering as a reliable, scalable solution for the shipping industry’s energy transition. EPS continues to collaborate closely with suppliers like TotalEnergies while exploring next-generation fuels, including methanol, ammonia, and bio-LNG, positioning LNG as a bridge to a fully clean-energy future.
EPS’s proactive approach sets a market example for other global shipowners facing heightened regulatory pressures, including the EU’s Emissions Trading System (ETS) and the IMO’s tightened GHG reduction targets.
EPS’s Sustainability Strategy in Action
From its first LNG bunkering in 2020 to reaching 500 operations, EPS has demonstrated both speed and scale in rolling out LNG capabilities globally. Its broader strategy includes:
- Fleet modernization through dual-fuel engine adoption
- Port collaboration to expand bunkering access
- Operational integration to ensure minimal disruption during bunkering
- Global partnerships that promote clean energy shipping corridors
Each operation reflects EPS’s company-wide ethos of innovation, safety, collaboration, and responsibility—key pillars supporting its long-term goal of net-zero emissions.e teams, and partners, ensuring every Ship-To-Ship bunkering is conducted safely, efficiently, and reliably.
