Cavotec, a leader in innovative connection and electrification solutions, has announced the signing of two significant orders, totaling EUR 6.5 million, for the deployment of its advanced PowerMove shore power systems at Mediterranean ports. These systems are designed to facilitate shore power connections for cruise ships and RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) vessels, marking a major step toward reducing emissions and enhancing the sustainability of port operations.
The first order encompasses several PowerMove mobile cable management systems aimed at serving both cruise ships and RoRo vessels. Deliveries of these systems are anticipated to commence in mid-2025 and are expected to be completed by the end of that year. The implementation of these systems will allow vessels to operate without emissions while docked, resulting in multiple benefits. These include reduced noise pollution, enhanced comfort for passengers, significant fuel cost savings, and adherence to stringent environmental regulations.
The second order involves the supply of two PowerMove shore power systems, which are slated for delivery in the first quarter of 2026. These systems will allow two cruise vessels to connect to shore power simultaneously, thereby bolstering sustainable operations within the port.
