Jr. Bunker Trader Job Summary
FLEX Commodities DMCC is looking for a Junior Bunker Trader to join their energetic and growing trading team in Dubai. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual looking to start their career in bunker trading. As a Junior Bunker/Marine Fuels Trader, you will manage the end-to-end marine fuel transactions, from purchasing and selling fuel for vessels to ensuring competitive pricing and coordinating efficient delivery logistics. This role requires strong relationship-building skills, negotiation expertise, and the ability to manage financial and operational risks in a fast-paced environment.
Jr. Bunker Trader Key Responsibilities
- Bunker Trading Transactions: Perform back-to-back bunker trading transactions, ensuring seamless execution of deals.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the trading team to secure reliable supply sources and ensure the smooth flow of operations.
- Client Relationship Building: Cultivate and maintain relationships with ship owners, operators, and charterers to expand the client base.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Ensure timely collection of payments for all transactions and monitor financial risks effectively.
- Price Updates: Provide daily updates on fuel prices from suppliers to the team and clients.
- Documentation & Record Keeping: Accurately document all trade activities, including payment tracking, in Excel and the company’s ERP system.
- Database Maintenance: Maintain a comprehensive database of inquiries and completed deals.
- KPI Achievement: Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and monthly sales targets set by the company.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Maritime Studies, Logistics, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience: 1-2 years of experience in bunker trading or a similar maritime industry role is ideal but not mandatory.
- Industry Knowledge: A strong understanding of the maritime sector, including vessel operations, fuel specifications, and international bunkering regulations.
- Skills:
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and make well-informed decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with ERP systems is preferred.
