Anglo-Eastern, a global leader in innovative maritime training solutions, has introduced a state-of-the-art LNG and Ammonia bunkering station skid at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Academy (AEMA) in Karjat, Mumbai. The unveiling took place during the Anglo-Eastern 2025 Mumbai Conference in February, marking a significant step in maritime training for alternative fuels.

The facility is designed to provide hands-on training for industry professionals in the safe and efficient bunkering of LNG and ammonia-powered vessels, reinforcing global efforts toward maritime decarbonization.

Enhancing Training for Safe Bunkering Operations

As the maritime sector continues its transition to low-carbon fuels, the need for trained personnel in LNG and ammonia bunkering has become critical. The newly launched bunkering station skid provides an advanced learning environment with cryogenic fuelling technology and modern safety systems. The facility replicates real-world bunkering operations, enabling seafarers and industry stakeholders to gain essential skills in LNG and ammonia transfer operations, emergency response procedures, and compliance with regulatory frameworks.

Anglo-Eastern’s initiative underscores the increasing importance of hands-on training for alternative marine fuels. The bunkering station skid is a key addition to the dual-fuel centre of excellence at AEMA and was inaugurated on February 20 by Alexander Saverys, CEO of CMB.TECH.

During the event, Saverys emphasized the significance of fostering a skilled workforce for the industry’s transition toward net-zero emissions by 2050.

“We need more companies to step up and acknowledge the necessity to pursue such initiatives if we are to ensure adequate talent pools in the run-up to net-zero emissions,” said Saverys.

Commitment to Safety, Innovation, and Sustainability

Captain Aalok Sharma, Group Director of Training at Anglo-Eastern, highlighted the company’s dedication to maritime safety and fuel efficiency.

“We are thrilled to introduce this LNG and Ammonia bunkering station skid as part of our commitment to shaping the future of maritime fuel safety and efficiency. As the industry transitions toward sustainable fuels, the need for well-trained professionals has never been greater. This new facility will equip maritime personnel with the knowledge and hands-on experience required to meet the challenges of LNG and ammonia bunkering,” Sharma stated.

The training program utilizing the new bunkering station skid is not limited to seafarers but also extends to shore-based stakeholders. This broader exposure ensures that shore teams are well-prepared to support onboard crews, further strengthening operational safety and efficiency.

Strengthening Industry Partnerships and Training Capabilities

Beyond the Ammonia and LNG bunkering facility, Anglo-Eastern has expanded its partnership with MAN Energy Solutions through the MAN PrimeServ Academy. A new ME-GI training facility was inaugurated at the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre (AEMTC) in Mumbai, focusing on Mk 2 ME-GI engines. This training facility enables course participants to understand crucial aspects of engine operations, ensuring the correct procedures for maintenance and safe handling of ME-GI engines onboard LNG-fueled vessels.

Anglo-Eastern’s investment in these training initiatives aligns with its broader goal of supporting the maritime industry’s decarbonization efforts. By equipping professionals with the necessary expertise in handling next-generation fuels, the company is contributing to a safer and more sustainable future for global shipping.
