Miami, Florida | February 06, 2025 – Seaboard Marine has officially introduced the Seaboard Verde, the third LNG-powered vessel in its high-specification V-Class series. The announcement marks a critical step in the carrier’s fleet modernization program, which aims to operate nine LNG-powered vessels by the end of 2025.
The Seaboard Verde is a 3,500 TEU dual-fuel container vessel designed to balance high-volume cargo capacity with strict environmental standards. Scheduled for delivery in February 2025, the vessel will join its sister ships, the Seaboard Victory and Seaboard Voyager, which entered service in late 2024.

Technical Specifications & Sustainability Features
Constructed by Taizhou Sanfu Ship Engineering in China and designed by Germany’s HB Hunte Engineering, the V-Class vessels are engineered for efficiency in the regional trades of the Americas.
- Propulsion: Powered by a MAN B&W 7S70ME-C10 dual-fuel engine.
- Fuel Profile: Primarily operates on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), significantly reducing sulfur oxides (SOx), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and particulate matter compared to heavy fuel oil.
- Gas Storage: Features innovative double C-type vertical gas tanks, currently among the largest vertical LNG fuel tanks deployed globally.
- Cargo Capacity: 3,500 TEUs, featuring over 1,000 refrigerated container plugs to support the heavy demand for perishable goods in the Caribbean and Central American markets.
- Dimensions: Approximately 248 meters in length with a beam of 35 meters and a deadweight of roughly 52,500 DWT.
Strategic Impact on the Americas
The Seaboard Verde will be deployed on strategic rotations connecting major hubs in the Western Hemisphere. Key ports of call include:
- U.S. Northeast: Philadelphia and Brooklyn.
- Central America & Caribbean: Moin (Costa Rica), Colon (Panama), Kingston (Jamaica), and Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic).
“This vessel’s name reflects our firm commitment to leading the industry in sustainable practices while addressing the growing demands of our customers,” said Eddie Gonzalez, President and CEO of Seaboard Marine.
A Growing LNG Ecosystem
Seaboard Marine’s transition to cleaner marine fuels began in earnest with the acquisition of the Seaboard Blue, the world’s first container vessel converted to LNG propulsion. By integrating the V-Class newbuilds, the company is rapidly scaling its low-carbon footprint.
The project is managed by the Hartmann Group, which recently expanded the series to include a seventh vessel, signaling long-term confidence in the LNG dual-fuel platform. By the end of this year, Seaboard’s LNG-powered presence will span nearly a third of its 30-vessel fleet, supported by its primary terminals at PortMiami and the Port of Houston.
