Oslo, Norway | November 18, 2025 – Norwegian Car Carriers AS (NOCC) has officially expanded its fleet with the delivery of the NOCC Pacific, a high-specification, 7,000 CEU (Car Equivalent Unit) dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carrier (PCTC).

The vessel was handed over at the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Yantai and represents a major technological leap for the company. It is the first in a series of three sister ships ordered to modernize NOCC’s fleet, with the remaining two vessels, the NOCC Adriatic and NOCC Kattegat, scheduled for delivery through 2026 and 2027.

Pioneering Green Technology in the PCTC Segment

The NOCC Pacific is designed to address the maritime industry’s tightening emissions regulations. By utilizing LNG as its primary fuel, the vessel significantly reduces CO2, sulfur oxides (SOx), and nitrogen oxides (NOx) compared to traditional marine gas oil.

Key Technical Features:

  • Capacity: 7,000 CEU, capable of transporting heavy freight including buses and construction machinery via hoistable decks.
  • LNG Dual-Fuel Propulsion: Equipped to run on LNG, MGO, or VLSFO.
  • Ammonia-Ready: Certified with DNV’s “Ammonia-Ready” notation, allowing for a future transition to zero-carbon ammonia fuel.
  • EV Safety Standard: The vessel is the world’s first PCTC to carry the DNV EV notation, certifying its compliance with advanced safety standards for the maritime transport of electric vehicles.
Inheriting a Legacy

The name NOCC Pacific carries significant historical weight for the company. It pays tribute to the Dyvi Pacific, a 1970-built car carrier with a 2,725 CEU capacity that helped establish the firm’s presence in the global vehicle logistics market over half a century ago.

This newbuilding arrives at a time of robust growth for the company. Just last week, NOCC CEO Olav Sollie confirmed the exercise of an option for a fourth sister ship at CIMC Raffles, further solidifying the company’s commitment to a “green fleet” strategy.

About Norwegian Car Carriers AS

Founded in 1930 as Skipsaktieselskapet Eidsiva, NOCC has undergone several transformations, including a 2010 merger with Dyvi Shipping AS. Today, the company operates as a private shipowner fully controlled by a transportation strategy managed by J.P. Morgan Asset Management.

With the addition of the NOCC Pacific, the company now manages a fleet of modern PCTCs ranging from 6,500 to 7,000 CEU, serving major global automotive manufacturers on long-term charters.
