Lundsby Renewable Solutions A/S (Lundsby) has announced the signing of a significant Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract for the design and construction of a state-of-the-art biogas plant in Borlänge, Sweden. This project, commissioned by Gasum, is set to produce 133 GWh of renewable energy and marks a key step in Lundsby’s mission to support the green transition across Scandinavia.

The new biogas facility will process approximately 300,000 tons of sustainable feedstock, comprising agricultural and industrial organic waste, at full capacity. It is expected to generate around 12 million Nm³ of renewable natural gas (biomethane), providing a clean and sustainable energy source that aligns with the European Union’s goal of reducing net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030.

This contract represents not only a significant achievement for Lundsby but also a broader commitment to renewable energy in the region. Currently, Lundsby is also constructing another biogas plant for Gasum in Götene, Sweden, which is anticipated to begin operations in early 2025. The successful execution of these projects will expand Lundsby’s footprint in the Scandinavian renewable energy sector and enhance its capacity to meet growing energy demands sustainably.

Construction of the Borlänge biogas facility is scheduled to commence in autumn 2024, with completion targeted for 2026. Lundsby expresses appreciation for the dedication of its team, whose expertise and hard work have made this significant milestone possible. The company also extends its gratitude to Gasum for their continued trust and partnership.

This EPC contract for the Borlänge biogas plant exemplifies Lundsby’s commitment to advancing renewable energy solutions and contributing to a greener, more sustainable future for all.
